Hiking at Gunung Datuk, Seremban, Peninsular Malaysia


Gunung Datuk (Mount Datuk) is 884 meters (2900 feets) high in Negeri Sembilan state in Peninsular Malaysia. Some maps show as Gunung Datuk Rembau or Gunung and on the way there, the road signs sometimes show Gunung Datok or Dato.


How to get there :
Coordinate on GPS or Google map : 2.547988,102.169418
Travel on North-South highway (PLUS) towards Melaka. Exit plaza tol Pedas/Linggi and travel to the location with GPS with the coordinate as above mentioned.
Car park available or park along the road side.

Facilities : Toilet with shower available in the park but not on the mountain.


Average Trekking Time : It normally takes about 1.5 - 2 hours to reach the peak on moderate speed with some photographies and rest along the trek.




Terrain : This is one of the good training ground for those who prepare to climb Mount Kota Kinabalu.


Attractions : Last part of the climb is ladder climb to the big hard rocks with beautiful view.


Things to bring : Walking stick might be necessary for those who need to reduce the stress on their knee when descend from the top.

Hiking at Bukit Tabur, Selangor, Peninsular Malaysia

Bukit Tabur is a hill located in Taman Melawati, peninsular Malaysia. The hill is famous for the crystal quartz ridge in the world. The quartz ridge can be seen from the Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) and hiking trail is to via Kampung Klang Gates, 50 metres from the gates of the Klang Gates Dam.

How to get there : Coordinate on GPS or Google map for the hiking trail : 3° 14′ 1″ N, 101° 44′ 55″ E
It takes around 30 minutes to travel from Bukit Jalil, the commonwealth stadium through MRR2 heading towards Zoo Negara. Direction on below Google map from point A : Zoo Negara to point B : Bukit Tabur Trail. Park car along the road side.


Facilities : No facilities like toilet and shower available.

AverageTrekking Time : It takes around 2.5 hours on moderate speed with some photographies and rest along the trek. Many peaks along the ridge. 

Terrain : 80 - 90% rock climbing. It is dangerous for height phobia to attempt and accidents happened before.

Attractions : Beautiful view of Klang Gates Dam and view of KL City especially the view of Dam during sun rising.


Things to bring : Hand glove is good to have but not necessary for rock climbing.
